France is ready to politically support the increase in the export of Ukrainian electricity to European countries

Atomic generation will help Europe to pass the autumn-winter period against the background of gas blackmail from Russia.

This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko, at a meeting with the Minister of Environmental Transition of France, Agnes Panier-Runachet, reports the Ministry of Energy in Facebook.

They discussed the issue of bilateral cooperation, as well as the coordination of efforts to ensure a stable passage through Europe of the next autumn-winter period in the conditions of gas blackmail from russia.

Galushchenko noted that Ukraine and France have a similar share of nuclear generation in their energy mix: by the end of 2021, it is 69.1% in France and 55% in Ukraine.

"It is atomic generation that is one of the main factors of Europe's passage through the autumn-winter period during the period of gas blackmail from russia," he said.

Galushchenko also noted that he welcomes the joint vision of Ukraine and France regarding the importance of the objective and proactive work of the International Atomic Energy Agency, as well as the need for the de-occupation of the Zaporizhia NPP as soon as possible.

Panier-Runache noted that France is ready to politically support the increase in the export of Ukrainian electricity to European countries, the additional volumes of which will replace billions of cubic meters of russian gas.

Galushchenko thanked France for the help with equipment and materials for the restoration of the energy sector of Ukraine, which was damaged as a result of the military actions of the russian federation. The French side, for its part, declared its readiness to make a contribution to the Ukraine Recovery Fund, created by the Secretariat of the Energy Community.

Earlier, EcoPoliticc wrote, that the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko said that the inclusion of gas and nuclear energy in the green taxonomy will allow Europe replace russian energy resources.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the situation at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant occupied by russian troops continues pose a threat to all of Europe.
