Dril-Quip, a drilling and manufacturing company in Houston, USA, plans to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by more than 50% by 2030.

Dril-Quip stated that they are committed to environmental protection not only throughout the organization, but also in the wider energy sector, according to Offshore Energy.

Decarbonization of Dril-Quip includes switching to renewable energy sources at certain production sites, increasing capacity, investing in infrastructure to reduce emissions, reducing the fleet of vehicles and assessing electrification opportunities.

It is estimated that more than 75% of Scope 3's emissions are related to equipment, products and services purchased by Dril-Quip and the use of equipment leased by customers. To reduce them, the entire value chain is working with suppliers and customers to find ways to further decarbonize and help them set their goals in line with the global warming path of 1.5 ° C.

The company also said it is working with key suppliers to reduce upward emissions in the procurement process to reduce carbon footprint and meet long-term greenhouse gas emission targets.

They also work with customers to develop engineering solutions to reduce emissions during product installation and installation, aligning their solutions with their long-term decarbonisation goals.

"We are proud to take these additional steps in our ESG pathway, including setting decarbonisation targets to align global warming at 1.5 ° C," said Jeff Byrd, CEO of Dril-Quip.

He also added that the company invests in technologies and services that reduce carbon emissions and environmental impact through internal research and development, as well as cooperation.

"This is evidenced by our innovative e-series products that help our customers reduce carbon emissions, as well as our recently announced partnership with Aker Solutions to provide the best solution for capturing, using and storing carbon for customers," Byrd said.
