The new model meets the company's carbon neutrality goals

The US-based company Airgas will launch two Hyzon Motors heavy-duty hydrogen-powered trucks on its cylinder delivery routes in Los Angeles, California.

This is stated in the press release of the company from May 9.

Hyzon is due to deliver one 100kW fuel cell truck and its first and ‘most powerful’ 200kW truck, to be tested commercially.

The 100kW model is currently on display at the Advanced Clean Transport (ACT) Expo at the Long Beach Convention Centre in California, until May 12, 2022.

Brian Jones, Director, Risk Management & Corporate Responsibility at Airgas, explained, the pilot scheme comes in line with Airgas, an Air Liquide company’s goals of carbon neutrality.

Jones said, “We are proud to be one of the first to pilot heavy-duty hydrogen fuel cell trucks as we look to continuously lower carbon emissions and increase our use of clean fuel alternative vehicles in our fleet.”

The vehicles have been developed through Hyzon’s Repower programme. Having been upcycled from existing diesel trucks to Hyzon’s fuel cell system, electric drivetrain, and hydrogen storage, Hyzon claim the trucks offer a ‘similar payload, performance, and refuelling time’ to traditional diesel trucks.

Cory Chumaker, Head of Business Development – Americas at Hyzon Motors USA, commented, “Hyzon is leading the transition to zero emissions by providing hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles with leading fuel cell technology.
