Ukrainian hospitals will be equipped with humanitarian solar panels from the Italian company Enel as part of the "Ray of Hope" project.
This will allow institutions to save up to 70% of energy costs and partially ensure work during power outages, the Ministry of Health reports on Facebook.
It is noted that the Ministry of Health will work on the project together with the Ministry of Energy.
The message emphasized that solar power plants will be supplemented with energy storage facilities that will provide power supply to hospitals for at least 4 hours.
The press service said that a pilot project to install solar panels has already been implemented in a dispensary in the village of Gorenka in the Kyiv region. The SES with a capacity of 12 kW covers up to 60% of the medical facility's electricity needs.
The press service of the Ministry of Energy noted that at the first stage, the EU will provide 5,700 solar panels free of charge for the needs of key public buildings, including hospitals. The power of each panel is 350 W, and the total is about 2 MW.
"The use of alternative energy sources is extremely important in preparation for the next heating season, which is part of the Strategy of the Ministry of Energy for the decentralization of generation. The implementation of the "Ray of Hope" project will allow Ukrainian hospitals to remain more stable in the conditions of energy terrorism of the aggressor country," said Deputy Minister of Energy Farid Safarov.
It is noted that the Ministry of Health will determine the list of health care facilities where SES will be installed. Priority will be given to those located in regions most vulnerable to power outages, as well as those affected by hostilities.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Ukraine will receive free of charge from the EU 5,700 solar panels with a capacity of 350 W each for the public sector from the leading Italian company Enel.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, a solar power plant and a ground-to-water heat pump for heating were installed on the roof of a dispensary damaged by Russian troops in the village of Gorenka in the Buchansky District of Kyiv Oblast.
