The European Commission has identified Ukraine as one of the priority partners in the future hydrogen economy of the EU

The State Energy Efficiency Agency became a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, which is part of the EU course on industrial decarbonization.

Currently, there are about 1,500 members of the alliance, including more than 10 Ukrainian ones, including the Ministry of Energy, Energoatom, the Operator of the GTS of Ukraine, Ihor Sikorsky National Technical University of Ukraine and others, the State Energy Efficiency Agency reports on Facebook.

The alliance was established by the European Commission in July 2020 to support the large-scale development of hydrogen energy by 2030.

The press service of the State Energy Efficiency Agency explained that membership in the European Alliance for pure hydrogen will help to intensify international cooperation, exchange of experience and information about the development of hydrogen energy in different countries. This will facilitate the search for potential partners for the implementation of projects on the production, transportation, storage and use of hydrogen.

After all, one of the main tasks of the alliance is to help attract investments and stimulate the production and use of green hydrogen.

"We consider the development of the hydrogen economy as one of the pillars of the reconstruction of Ukraine, its energy transformation and the formation of the basis for the decarbonization of the economy. At the same time, the criticality of the issue of energy security of both Ukraine and the whole of Europe opens up a wide horizon for close cooperation with EU partners," the chairman said Valery Bezus of State Energy Efficiency.

He also added that the State Energy Efficiency Agency and the Ministry of Energy are working out ways to build Ukraine's hydrogen economy in a ministry-based working group and in an open dialogue with scientists, the business community, and European partners.

The message emphasized that the European Commission in its Hydrogen Strategy identified Ukraine as one of the priority partners in the future hydrogen economy of the EU. As part of the REPowerEU plan, the European Commission plans to create several hydrogen import corridors in the EU, including one from Ukraine, as soon as conditions allow.

"The members of the alliance meet twice a year at the Hydrogen Forum to discuss ways of developing hydrogen energy," the press service said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EU is planning create a new hydrogen bank, which invests €3 billion in market development.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukraine will definitely become a green energy hub for Europe.
