SSP at enterprises allow to reduce consumption from centralized networks by 5-50%

In Vinnytsia, enterprises have installed more than 10 MW of solar power plants for their own needs, which provided green energy for about 10% of consumption.

This result was achieved thanks to the city's program to support micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, Vinnytsia Deputy Mayor Andriy Ocheretnyi told Ukrinform.

He emphasized that Vinnytsia became the first community in Ukraine to adopt the European Green Deal. Among other things, the program provides for a green component in the final products of enterprises, such as energy from renewable sources.

Mr. Ocheretnyi said that Vinnytsia has introduced its own incentives for manufacturers who install solar power plants. Thus, in April 2023, the city launched a compensation program for businesses for the installation of equipment for the production of electricity from renewable sources. UAH 10 million was allocated from the budget for its implementation.

"The Vinnytsia city community has become the only one in Ukraine where business transition to green energy is stimulated in this way. 30% of the taxes paid by the company to the community budget are directed to these needs, but no more than the actual costs of purchasing alternative sources of energy supply. We limited the upper bar of compensation to one million hryvnias, the official said. – We expect that they [enterprises] will use them to reinvest in their production process."

He added that the program will also be active in the first quarter of 2024. Probably, it will be extended for the whole year.

According to him, 7 enterprises have already used the program, and 10 more are planning to participate. After all, it allows you to prepare for possible blackouts, save money on paying rising electricity tariffs and take care of the environment. About 40 companies in the community have already installed SPP for their own needs.

SPP also installed two relocated enterprises with grant funds from European partners.

Ocheretny noted that rooftop SESs at enterprises allow to reduce consumption from centralized networks by 5-50%. For example, in 2023, the Vinnytsia dairy plant installed a SPP with a total capacity of 588.6 kW, which fully ensures the operation of the administrative building. The company also plans to build and launch a second line of 250 kW in 2024.

"We can say that the year 2023 in our community has become a turning point in terms of renewable energy sources," he said.

Ocheretnyi emphasized that the implementation of SPP projects has been suspended due to problems with the transportation of goods on the Ukrainian-Polish border.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that a 1230 kW rooftop and ground-mounted solar power plant was installed in Vinnytsia at the Panda plant of Karavan TM, which produces carbonated beverages.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a 100 kW solar power plant was installed on the roof of a tram depot in Vinnytsia.
