The SPP will allow to reduce electricity consumption from the general network by 100,000 kWh per year

On the roof in Vinnytsia of the tram depot of Vinnytsia Transport Company, a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 kW was installed.

This will help to save a significant part of the electricity consumed by the enterprise, as well as partially ensure its operation during probable blackouts, the Vinnytsia City Council reports.

The message emphasized that the installation of the SPP is also fully in line with the Green Course, which Vinnytsia declared at the beginning of 2022.

Oleksandr Nechaev, acting general director of KP Vinnytsia Transport Company, said that the construction of the SPP lasted for 2 weeks. During this time, 240 panels with a total area of 1,150 m2 were installed.

"The installation of the power plant will allow us to provide our tram depot with an uninterrupted supply of electricity. Considering that there may be problems in the energy system of Ukraine in the winter due to possible attacks by the enemy on critical infrastructure, it is important to provide the transport depot with sources of renewable energy. After all, public transport must be constantly maintained and repaired ", he explained.

The Department of Transport and Urban Mobility emphasized that the main advantage of installing a power plant is savings. The SES will allow to reduce electricity consumption from the general network by about 100,000 kWh per year.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on the roof of one of the largest industrial plants in Vinnytsia GreenCool, which produces refrigeration equipment, a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 600 kW was installed. SPP will be able to fully ensure the operation of the plant during the day during May-September.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Executive Committee of the Vinnytsia City Council extended partial compensation of costs for the purchase of autonomous green power sources to small and medium-sized enterprises.
