The launch of the energy origin guarantee mechanism will provide an opportunity to export green electricity and increase domestic demand for it

Acting Artem Nekrasov, Director of the State Enterprise "Guaranteed Buyer", stated that the company will be able to export green energy to the European market no earlier than at the beginning of 2024.

Despite the fact that the restrictions have already been removed by law, the government and the NCRECP should make a number of decisions that will allow direct exports, he said in an interview with "Ukrinform".

Nekrasov emphasized that the enterprise was ready for export already in July 2023.

According to him, "Harpok" specialists analyzed the market in neighboring countries, namely in Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and revealed significant opportunities. Ukraine and Europe have different time zones. Therefore, such a shift allows exporting green energy when European solar plants are already generating it.

"In addition, we have an auxiliary factor that gives us the opportunity to successfully enter the European market, which is the introduction of the mechanism of guarantees of origin. The marking of green energy, multiplied by the incentive mechanisms introduced by the European Union in its markets, helps to go there with our "green" electricity," he said. he.

Nekrasov emphasized that currently "Harpok" we are working with NKREKP and the "Market Operator" on the launch of the mechanism of guarantees of origin in Ukraine. This will make it possible to export green electricity and increase the demand for it within the country. After all, there are many enterprises in Ukraine focused on the markets of European Union countries.

"First of all, guarantees of the origin of the used electricity will be needed by metallurgical and chemical enterprises, which are the first to fall under the CBAM mechanism – a tax on carbon emissions when exporting products," he explained. he.

Nekrasov added that demand for green energy will also be among Ukrainians enterprises included in international holdings. After all, their production strategies include the possibility or obligation to purchase a certain share of green energy.

Let us remind you, in July the Verkhovna Rada adopted as a whole draft law No. 9011-d "On amendments to some laws of Ukraine regarding restoration and green transformation of the energy system". The document provides for the introduction of the guarantee of origin of renewable energy and the Net Billing model.

As previously reported by EcoPolitics, in Ukraine in July solar generation produced 28.33% of all energy, and about half of the energy was produced from renewable sources.
