The Economic Court of the Lviv Region charged PJSC "Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant" with over 874.8 thousand hryvnias for the pollution of three plots of land.
The company refused to voluntarily compensate for the damage, the State Environmental Inspection in the Lviv Region reports on Facebook.
It is noted that eco-inspectors discovered violations in December 2020, namely contamination of land plots with an area of 10 m2, 31.5 m2 and 35 m2.
The message explained that the collected money will go to the environmental protection fund. They will be used to implement environmental programs of the Lviv region.
The Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant is one of the leading enterprises in Ukraine for the repair of electric locomotives. The enterprise also repairs industrial railway transport and traction units of quarry electric locomotives, as well as traction motors, auxiliary electric machines and wheelsets.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the court forced the state enterprise "Dubnovodokanal", located in the Rivne region, to compensate 1.6 million hryvnias for damages for the discharge of wastewater into the Ikva River.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the North-West Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the first instance and ordered "Kostopil plywood factory" LLC, located in the Rivne region, to compensate over 1 million hryvnias for air pollution.
