"Dubnovodokanal" delayed the voluntary compensation of damages, so the eco-inspectors appealed to the court

The court forced the state-owned enterprise "Dubnovodokanal", located in the Rivne region, to compensate 1.6 million hryvnias in damages for the discharge of wastewater into the Ikva River.

Eco-inspectors discovered violations in February 2020, the State Environmental Inspection of Polissky District reports on Facebook.

During the inspection, on the instructions of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, they established that the company was discharging wastewater from treatment facilities into the river in excess of the established standards for the maximum allowable discharge of pollutants. This lasted from January 2019 to February 2020.

In the message, it was emphasized that "Dubnovodokanal" did not compensate for the damages within the stipulated time. Therefore, experts of the State Inspectorate appealed to the Commercial Court of the Rivne region with a claim, which was satisfied in full.

However, the company did not agree with such a decision and filed an appeal with the North-Western Court of Appeal. But the complaint was also dismissed.

The authors noted that in June 2022, the department of the state executive service of the Duben district of the Rivne region opened enforcement proceedings for the compulsory recovery of the damage caused. The last payment was received on November 3.

"We emphasize once again that punishment for the destruction of the environment is inevitable," eco-activists emphasized.

As EcoPolitic reported before, in Ukraine, violators of environmental protection legislation for 9 months of 2022 were reimbursed to the state budget more than 56 million hryvnias of eco-damages.
