The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine, Tobias Tyberg, at a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets, assured that Sweden is ready to support Ukraine on the way to streamlining the sphere of waste.
They discussed possible areas of cooperation for the development of a qualitatively new waste management system in Ukraine using the best available technologies, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.
They also discussed the issue of studying Sweden's experience in preventing and controlling industrial pollution and cooperation in water resources management and cleaning Ukrainian nature from the consequences of war
"Sweden's experience in these matters is one of the best. And Swedish colleagues and investors have repeatedly expressed their readiness to contribute to the solution of Ukrainian waste problems and the creation of the necessary infrastructure for this," the article says.
Previously, the lack of modern European rules in Ukraine was an obstacle to cooperation. However, the framework law "On waste management", implementing the 98th European Directive, solved this problem.
Currently, the Ministry of Environment team is working on sectoral draft laws to implement all the principles and norms of the framework law "On Waste Management".
Tyberg noted that for Ukraine this is indeed an important step in approaching European standards. Thus, the Swedish industrial group Waste Sweden, which includes almost all national companies in the industry, has always been interested in cooperation with Ukraine. However, modern industry legislation was necessary for this.
Strilets emphasized that the war is not an obstacle for the green European movement of Ukraine. After all, every Ukrainian believes in victory and understands that it is necessary to rebuild and develop Ukraine today.
Earlier, EcoPolitic reported, that Ukraine for the last 3 months increased the level of fulfillment of European integration obligations in the environmental sphere from 61% to about 63%, and in 2 years this indicator will be able to reach 75%.
Also, European ministers responsible for forests and observers of the "Forests of Europe" process expressed readiness to support Ukraine in post-war reconstruction and implementation of the necessary reforms in the forest sector.
