In Ukraine, more than 550 MW of SES capacities were damaged or destroyed due to Russian aggression

The occupying power in territories not controlled by Ukraine threatens to confiscate industrial solar power generation facilities.

This applies to SES whose owners are in the territory under the control of the Ukrainian authorities and refuse to return, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.

The press service noted that such an "audit" began on October 27, 2022.

In Ukraine, due to Russian aggression, more than 550 MW of solar power plants and domestic SPPs were damaged or destroyed.

Survey results of "Solar Energy Associations of Ukraine" of  50 solar power plant owners whose installations have been damaged since the start of the war revealed that:

  • 68% of the destroyed objects were installed in the occupied territories or near the line of hostilities;
  • according to the type of damaged power plants, domestic SPPs make up 64.7%, industrial ground-based plants – 29.4%, and industrial roof-top plants – 5.9%.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the city of Merefa, which is 30 kilometers from Kharkiv, Russian troops launched a missile strike on May 28 destroyed the solar sub-electricity station. At the site of the impact, craters six meters deep and 11 meters in diameter were formed.
