In the Sumy region, shelling by russian troops caused a forest fire near the town of Okhtyrka, which caused damage to the atmosphere in the amount of 16.6 million hryvnias.

The fire destroyed about 7.5 hectares of forest, and the smoke cloud from the fire stretched for kilometers, reports the State Inspectorate reports on Facebook.

The shelling of the territory of the Velikopysarov community, where the State Enterprise Okhtyr Forestry is located, took place on August 25, 2022.

The report noted that eco-inspectors sent an official damage calculation to law enforcement agencies and the Operational Headquarters of the State Eco-Inspection. This will be another criminal case regarding the violation of the laws and customs of war by the russian army, which has caused a negative impact on the environment of Ukraine.

"The russians must answer for the destruction of the Sumy region's environment," the eco-inspectors emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that as a result of an enemy missile strike, the fire at the transformers of Sumyoblenergo lasted for more than a day, which caused damage to the atmospheric air for more than 700 thousand UAH.
