Fires occur suddenly and leave scorched earth behind

A large-scale fire has broken out again at the Kakhovka Reservoir. They are recorded regularly after the dam was blown up by Russians.

This was reported by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District on social media.

Experts say that the dam's explosion caused not only a loss of fresh water, but also damaged the natural balance. Now, the bottom of the reservoir looks like a desert that is periodically engulfed by fire.

Reeds, dead wood, and shrubs that could have been the basis for restoring the region's ecosystem are burning. Animals, birds, and reptiles are also dying en masse. The smoke creates conditions unsuitable for their existence and complicates the work of rescuers.

Inspectors call for:

  1. Do not create conditions for fires.
  2. Refrain from any actions that could lead to a fire.
  3. Take care of nature.
  4. In case of fire, call 101.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Odesa region, "chessmen" are destroying the Tuzly Estuaries National Park. As a result, the fire covered 10 hectares of the reserve, which led to the destruction of the unique flora and fauna of the Tuzly Estuaries.
