The volume of generated waste amounted to more than 400 m3

In de-occupied Izyum, in Kharkiv region, eco-inspectors calculated 655 million hryvnias of damage to the environment from soil pollution with destruction waste from 4 facilities.

The shelling damaged and destroyed the dormitory of the medical college, the college itself and 2 hospitals, reports State Inspection on Telegram.

The message noted that ammunition, plastic, wood, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glass, paper, brick, concrete, etc. littered 11,299.84 m2 of the total area. The volume of generated waste amounted to more than 400 m3.

Destroyed buildings and structures:

  • communal non-profit enterprise of the Izyum City Council Central City Hospital of Pischanska Bogomateri;
  • communal health care institution Izyum medical professional college;
  • the dormitory of the communal healthcare institution Izyum medical professional college;
  • of the communal non-profit enterprise Center of primary medical and sanitary care of the city of Izyum.

"Damage caused to the state as a result of violation of environmental protection legislation is calculated in accordance with the Methodology for determining the amount of damage caused to land and soil as a result of emergency situations and/or armed aggression and hostilities during martial law, approved by Order of the Ministry of Environment dated 04.04.2022 No. 167, registered in Ministry of Justice on April 11, 2022 under No. 406/37742", the message explained.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the head of the Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets, said that the damage from russian aggression for the environment of Kharkiv region reached 83 billion UAH. This is only the third part of the cases that eco-inspectors were able to analyze and evaluate.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the liberated territories of Kharkiv region, eco-inspectors together with the military began examination of these areas and recording of damage, that was inflicted on the environment by russian troops.
