Eco-inspectors also took soil samples for laboratory research

In the Yavoriv community in Lviv Oblast, environmental inspectors found a plot of soil covered with an unknown brown substance with an unpleasant odor.

This happened during an inspection jointly with city council officials, the State Environmental Inspectorate in Lviv Oblast reported on Facebook.

It is noted that the territory was inspected due to a citizen's appeal. Environmental inspectors also took soil samples for laboratory tests.

The report says that if the samples show an excess of the permissible level of pollutants, the State Environmental Inspectorate will turn to law enforcement to:

  • identify the culprits;
  • bring them to justice;
  • compensate for the damage caused to the environment.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that residents of Mykolaiv from the Vodopii microdistrict complained about a stream with an unpleasant fishy smell, which flows along 2nd Naberezhnaya Street for about a month and reaches the river through rain collectors. People suspect that the stream was formed from the liquid waste of an enterprise that produces canned fish.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Odesa region in Izmail at the bottom of a quarry near the garden and summer cooperative "Druzhba" in early January, a lake of white-green liquid, which has a caustic smell, formed. These waters pose a risk of ecological threat, because they can get into reclamation canals for watering gardens, as well as city wells with drinking water.
