Lyceum "Oriana" in Lviv, damaged by Russian shelling, receives its own solar power plant ecoclubrivne.org

Currently, photovoltaic stations are also being installed for three medical institutions in the city of Lviv

The Oriana Lyceum in Lviv, which was damaged during a Russian missile attack on December 29, 2023, has installed a solar power plant (SPP) at the expense of Norway.

This was reported by the NGO Ecoclub.

The capacity of the PV modules of this solar power plant is 31.59 kW. The SPP is equipped with a grid-tie inverter, a hybrid inverter, and batteries capable of accumulating 30.72 kWh. The solar panels were installed on the roof of the school.

The total cost of the project was approximately UAH 1.8 million. The funds were provided by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).

With the help of the solar power plant, the lyceum will be able to meet its key needs during power outages: lighting the corridors, functioning of the shelter and dining room. The school uses electric stoves, and the grid-tied PV system will help reduce its electricity bills.

The lyceum's director, Iryna Koropetska, said that energy savings are of paramount importance to educators, and that the PV system already covers a significant part of the institution's needs. The school is considering the possibility of transferring excess electricity to other institutions, especially in the summer, when the school is not in full operation and generation is higher.

The lyceum has 1297 students and 130 employees, including 90 teachers. There are internally displaced persons among the students and teachers.

Earlier, EcoPolitic reported that the manufacturer of Morshynska had built a SPP for its plant in Myrhorod.
