Due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the wetlands of the Great and Small Kuchugury Archipelago and the Floodplain of Seven Lighthouses in Zaporozhye have become completely shallow.
These reservoirs have the status of international importance and are included in the list of Ramsar sites, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reports on Facebook.
It is noted that among other consequences of the Russian terrorist attack, as of June 16, the shallowing of the water area in the national natural park Veliky Lug continues, and in the national park Kamenskaya Sich the water level has decreased by more than 11 m.
The report stressed that in the area of the natural park Nizhnedneprovsky the water is gradually disappearing. Currently, the average level is about 1.9 m.
The press service added that as of June 16, the water level in the Dnieper at the Kherson mark dropped by more than 4 m and is 1.67 m. The water level drops by 2-5 cm every hour.
According to the Ukrhydrometeorological center, due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the water levels of the Kakhovka reservoir are below the minimum critical values required for the operation of water intakes in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions.
"Specialists of the State Ecological Inspectorate, the State Agency for Water Resources and mobile laboratories, where possible, constantly monitor water quality and record environmental damage due to the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station," the press service said.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Kherson region, the flooding of the national natural park Nizhnedneprovsky due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station caused damage to 46.55 billion UAH.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, deputies of the European Parliament condemned the explosion of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and called it Russian war crime.
