Currently, a total of 2.7 GW of offshore wind farms have been installed in the country

The Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy has announced the largest tender for the construction of offshore wind farms at six sites with a total capacity of up to 10 GW.

It is reported by Reuters.

Wind farms play a critical role for Denmark and are becoming a leading step in achieving the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 70% from 1990 levels by the end of this decade.

The ministry says that the state will provide six sites for the construction of offshore power plants and this will allow the construction of at least 6 GW of capacity. However, the winning projects will be allowed to install more turbines and the total capacity may already be 10 GW or more.

It is noted that participants need to offer the price they are willing to pay to the state for 30 years for the right to build wind farms. The state will own a 20% stake in each of these projects.

"It costs about $ 2.3 billion," the ministry added.

It is reported that with this capacity of wind farms, Denmark will not only be able to fully meet its electricity needs, but will also be able to export green energy to neighboring countries or use it to produce hydrogen.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Danish companies will receive $109 million for the green transition and 25% of this amount will be directed to projects directly related to the green transition.
