The Ministry of Energy presented key initiatives for the development of RES

The head of the Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, Andriy Gerus, said that people's deputies, executive authorities and experts are developing legislative mechanisms that will stimulate investment in renewable energy projects in Ukraine.

They can make a significant contribution to the development of distributed generation, reports "Energy under the dome" on Telegram.

This happened during a round table on the development of distributed green generation and self-production of electric energy.

It is noted that at the event, the Ministry of Energy presented key initiatives for the development of RES by producers. Including:

  • the possibility of receiving a green tariff for RES projects started before the end of 2023. It is expected that at least 300 MW of new capacities (mainly wind energy) will be put into operation, which will facilitate the passage of the next heating period;
  • green tariff for SPPs up to 1 MW is valid until the end of 2023. After that, such projects will be able to be implemented within the framework of new mechanisms;
  • RE facilities restored after damage will receive the green tariff that was established at the time of their implementation;
  • the contract-for-difference model for auction winners (independent market participation with hedging of price risks by the state);
  • conclusion of direct physical contracts for RES producers (outside of mandatory bidding at electronic auctions) from January 1, 2025;
  • creation of an effective mechanism for the issuance, circulation and repayment of guarantees of the origin of electric energy from RES.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine registered in the Verkhovna Rada 2 draft laws to regulate the activities of green energy producers.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yuriy Boyko, said that the European Union considers Ukraine as a future energy donor, since the country has a very high energy potential, and the vast majority of neighboring countries are energy-deficient in the future.
