In Vinnytsia, the Aurora company completed the first stage of construction of a rooftop solar power plant on the basis of its distribution center. Investments amounted to UAH 20 million.
This is reported by the press service of the Vinnytsia City Council.
Connection work is already underway. The capacity of the power plant will currently be 350 kW, and in the future it will increase to 850 kW.
It is noted that in 2020 Vinnytsia declared the Green Course. And 2023 has become a revolutionary year for the city in the field of green energy. According to Deputy Mayor Andrii Ocheretny, local business began to develop renewable energy sources very strongly in 2023, contributing to the decarbonization of the economy.
"But now it is also superimposed on the economic component, because the installation of renewable energy is profitable from an economic point of view. By 2023, we already have more than 30 companies that have implemented this system. The total capacity is more than 7 MW and this trend will continue to grow. It is worth noting that the European and world markets require one of the components – finished products produced at the expense of green energy. I am sure that other enterprises engaged in exports will also follow this path. This is a large pool in Ukraine, and Vinnytsia occupies a leading position, because our companies are responding and working on the development of green energy. These are companies such as Roshen, Grinkul, Aurora, Vinnytsia Food Factory, Sweet Dream," says Ocheretny.
The National Commission for State Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sectors (NKREKP) approved at the legislative level the possibility of selling surplus electricity. The corresponding mechanism already contributes to the development of distributed generation and ensures the green transformation of the energy sector.
Vasyl Goshovskyi, deputy general director of the Aurora company, says that the construction of the solar power plant takes place in two stages, because the amount of investment is quite large. This year, the first stage of the project was completed and in a few days this power plant will be connected to the grid.
"The maximum capacity of our substation will be 850 kW under the condition of bright sunny weather. Due to this, we will be able to replace 30% of our own consumption. Currently, we consume approximately 150-200 kW every hour, and in case of excess, we will be able to sell to the network and replace other types of electricity accordingly. like, for example, coal, of which there is already a shortage in Ukraine," he explains.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Transcarpathia, a 10 kW solar power plant was installed on the roof of the Dubivska settlement council building.
