EVA retail chain has installed a solar power plant (SPP) at its distribution center in Lviv.

This is reported by Forbes Ukraine, citing the company's press service.

The heliothermal power station consists of 1239 solar panels with a total area of 7400 square meters and a capacity of 718 kW.

According to Mykola Leonov, the Chief Power Engineer of EVA and EVA.UA, it is expected that during summer the solar power plant will cover 75-80% of daily energy consumption at the warehouse in Lviv.

The total investment in this project exceeded 18 million UAH.

EVA considers the solar power plant as an additional energy source that will reduce dependence on the city's power grid and help optimize utility costs. In case of power outages plants can partially compensate for the energy produced by the diesel generator.

The company's plan for 2025 is the installation of SPP at distribution centers in Dnipro and Brovary. EVA is ready to allocate about UAH 34 mln for these facilities.

"We strive to make the company more resistant to external factors and contribute to reducing the load on the national energy system,” says Mykola Leonov.

In the future, the company might inrease the capacity of the solar power plant in Lviv. The roof area of the warehouse can produce double the current generation. Sadly, EVA stated that technologies for efficient solar energy storage are currently unavailable in Ukraine.

Recently, EcoPolitic reported that Ukrainian titanium company Velta is investing $10 million in solar and wind power plants, as well as energy storage systems. We also informed about Metinvest's plans to invest 1.4 billion UAH in 2025 to install solar and gas power plants for the needs of its enterprises.
