Reconstruction of coke batteries became one of the key investment projects of ArcelorMittal

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih will launch on October 3-6 the process of putting into operation a new complex of coke batteries No.5 and No.6, which will reduce pollutant emissions by 1,600 tons per year.

Residents are warned that this process can cause periodic emissions of yellow color into the atmosphere, reports ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih on Facebook.

The complexes were stopped due to the full-scale invasion of the russian federation in February 2022.

Thus, on October 3-4, the company will start operation of coke battery No.6, and on October 5-6 – battery No.5. Probable emissions of yellow color are associated with the technological features of the start-stop mode of these units.

"This is a normal process and should not be a reason for citizens to worry. We ask the residents of Kryvyi Rih to warn neighbors and acquaintances about this if possible and to remain calm. All processes are under the control of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih specialists," the message explained.

The message also noted that the recent reconstruction of these coke batteries has become one of ArcelorMittal's key investment projects.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kryvyi Rih, the Ingulets mining and proccesing plant of the Metinvest group replaced the smoke extractor at the crushing plant, capable of purifying the air, on a more powerful one.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, on the territory of the tailings storage facility of the Ingulets mining and beneficiation plant, a green shield.
