This year, the city government did not officially open any reservoir for recreation

In the Dnipro, water quality was tested on 11 beaches of the Left Bank.

People's deputy from "Sluga Narodu" Dmytro Kisylevsky announced this on his Facebook page. He reminded that due to the martial law, the city authorities are currently banning the use of beaches. However, many people swim at their own peril and risk, which is why a water quality study was conducted after all.

Water samples were taken from 11 reservoirs:

  • Lake Kotlovan (Rayonchyk) – indicators within normal limits;
  • Lake Kuryache (near Livoberezhny-3) – indicators are within normal limits;
  • Sagaidak park beach (Manuilivsky railway station) – indicators are within normal limits;
  • The beach in Odynkivka (Odynkivka) – indicators are within normal limits;
  • The beach in the area of the Novobogorodytska fortress (Shevchenko village) – indicators within the normal range;
  • The beach in the Park of Culture and Recreation "Prydniprovskyi" (Prydniprovsk) – indicators within normal limits;
  • The swimming area at Frunzenskyi (Lomovskyi) – indicators are within normal limits.
  • Beach "Moika" on Shlyakhova (Ksenivka) – deviation in the smell of water samples, biological indicators are normal;
  • The beach in the area of the Samara bridge (in the area of the village of Shevchenko) – deviations in smell and HSC in the samples, biological indicators are normal;
  • The swimming area in the Interkorn area – deviations in smell and HSC in the samples, biological indicators are normal;
  • The beach on Soniachnyi (w/m Soniachnyi) – deviation in the LKP index (6200 units with a norm of no more than 5000), chemical indicators are normal;

It is noted. that the Dnipro Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was engaged in testing the selected water samples.

Specialists conducted research on 6 main indicators: odor intensity, oxygen concentration (KSK), dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen consumption (BSK-5), the level of lactose-positive Escherichia coli (LCC), pathogenic enterobacteria.

If we compare this year's results with the indicators of 2021 and 2022, we can say that the situation with the water quality on the beaches has not worsened this year.

"An elevated level of the LKP index was detected only at Sonyachny, on the beach on the banks of the Dnieper. LKP is a notorious Escherichia coli, so exceeding this indicator should be taken seriously. Specialists do not recommend swimming in these places. An elevated level of oxygen concentration was recorded in the water on the beach in in the area of the Samara bridge (in the area of Shevchenko village) and in the swimming area in the Interkorn area (Southern railway station). This indicator is not critical for human health, it may indicate the so-called blooming of water. Also, the water on these beaches may have an unpleasant smell. At all other locations, the indicators are within the normal range," said the People's Deputy.

But it is noted that this year the city authorities of Dnipro did not officially open a single reservoir for recreation.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the water turned green due to the blooming of algae in the Dnieper on the beach of the Monastyrsky Island. During the "bloom" of algae, potentially toxic and allergic substances are released into the water.
