On Tuesday, May 3, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law "On Ukraine's Accession to the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents."

This was reported press office parliament. The corresponding bill No. 0140 was supported by 317 people's deputies, with the minimum required 226.

The draft law was developed by the State Emergency Service in pursuance of the order of the Cabinet of Ministers on Ukraine's accession to the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents and in accordance with Article 4 of the Law "On International Treaties of Ukraine".

As stated in the explanatory note, the adoption of the draft law will contribute to the improvement of the system for preventing, preparing, responding to and eliminating the consequences of industrial accidents of a transboundary nature, the possibility of obtaining assistance under the Convention to increase the potential of Ukraine and the exchange of experience in these areas and the use of the Convention as an additional legal mechanism for development issues of the impact of accidents that occurred on the territory of a neighboring country, the consequences of which spread to the territory of Ukraine.

Ukraine's participation in the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents will also ensure compliance with one of the criteria for membership in the European Union.

Before EcoPolitica reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the Law "On the use of energy storage devices in Ukraine" that will balance the operation of the energy system and increase the stability of electricity supply for consumers".

Recall that the Law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Development of Energy Storage Installations" was adopted even before the full-scale war, on February 15, 2022.
