In Kharkiv, shelling by russian troops of the national scientific center Kharkiv Physical and Technical Institute caused damage to the environment in the amount of UAH 14,888,363,745.

The shelling on March 20 damaged the building, littered the area, and damaged about 100 trees and greenery, the State Inspectorate reported on Facebook.

Eco-inspectors conducted a survey of this territory and established that during the shelling by russian military personnel, the institute's buildings were damaged. This caused a land plot with an area of ​​256,872 m2 (volume 12,843.6 m3) to be littered with waste plastic, wood, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glass and fabric.

As you know, In 2010, the experimental nuclear facility "Neutron Source" was placed at this institute, in which 37 nuclear fuel elements were loaded into the active zone.

The examination was carried out jointly with specialists of the specialized environmental prosecutor's office and the SSU as part of criminal proceedings.

"Currently, fierce fighting continues in the territory of the Kharkiv region. Many infrastructure facilities, high-rise buildings and educational institutions were destroyed by the occupiers," the report said.

SEI specialists continue to record ecocrimes and carry out damage calculations in order to bring the enemy to justice.
