In Chortkov, Ternopil region, 56 solar panels with a total capacity of 21 kW were installed on the roof of the communal dental polyclinic.
The cost of the SES reaches 1 million hryvnias, but the hospital received it for free, thanks to the help of international donors, Chortkiv City Council reports on Facebook.
"The issue of energy efficiency, reducing the consumption of energy resources has always occupied a leading position in the development strategy of Chortkovo and the community. This topic became especially sensitive and important after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, because the prices of gas and electricity have increased and, most likely, will continue to increase," the press service said.
The message added that the city council is working on the preparation of a number of project applications for the development of renewable energy, primarily for the needs of critical infrastructure facilities.
It is noted that the stomatology building has the best parameters for the placement of SES, because the angle of inclination of the pitched roof is 25 degrees and it is oriented to the south.
The message explained that the rooftop grid solar power plant will be connected to the internal energy network of the central city hospital. All generated electricity will be used for the needs of the hospital.
"The expected annual generation of more than 22,000 kWh will allow to reduce the cost of electricity in the conditions of a difficult situation in the country, and accordingly - the budgetary burden on paying for energy carriers," the press service emphasized.
It is noted that the SES was established thanks to the cooperation of the Chortkov Development Agency with international donors, namely the companies Helion and Energie Service Biel/Bienne.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that, Ukrainian hospitals will be equipped with humanitarian solar panels from the Italian company Enel as part of the "Ray of Hope" project. This will allow establishments to save up to 70% of energy costs.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, two Kyiv hospitals received unique solar power plants from the leading French manufacturer of photovoltaic panels, Roy Group Energy.
