The organizers face a fine of 100-200 of the tax-free minimum income of citizens or up to five years of restriction of freedom

In Transcarpathia, criminal proceedings were opened for violation of water protection rules against the organizers of the Hard Enduro Wild Trails charity race near the village of Velikiy Bychkiv.

Sports motorcycles drove through mountain streams and near protected objects, but such an initiative provoked the indignation of eco-activists and violated the ban of the regional defense council, reports Our money. Lviv.

Organizers from the West Enduro Club donated part of the money collected from the race to help the military and the family of the fallen defender. Check-in took place on October 30.

The article noted that eco-activist Khrystyna Zhuk, the author of the petition regarding the regulation of jeeping in the Carpathians, spoke against the race. About 23,000 people shared the video from her social media accounts. After that, she started receiving messages from the participants of the event and those who supported them. Some of them wrote insults and threats.

The authors found out that the route for the run-in passed under Mount Kobyla near the botanical reserve of local importance "Arnica", but not through the objects of the nature reserve fund. The start of the competition took place in the "Kvasny" tract, and then it ran through the territory of the Kosivsko-Polyansky Forestry and the Tomaschuk Forestry, where motorcyclists rode up the Tsarsky stream. This caused the greatest public outcry.

The article noted that eco-activists from the "Ukrainian Environmental Protection Group" appealed to the prosecutor's office and the police to punish violators. After all, according to them, the competition violated the mandate of the Ministry of Environmental Protection dated June 21, 2010.

In addition, the editors of "Our money. Lviv" received an explanation from the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration. Officials explained that the movement of vehicles and other equipment within the forests of the regions during martial law was prohibited by the decision of the regional defense council. All local authorities, enterprises, institutions, organizations and citizens should be guided by this decision.

The article emphasized that although the territory of the lodge is not part of the nature reserve fund, the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zakarpattia region has started a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 242 of the Criminal Code – "violation of water protection rules". The sanction of the article provides for punishment from 100-200 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or up to five years of restriction of freedom.

"I don't want to justify myself. We definitely did something illegal, but everyone says that we need to help the Armed Forces in any way. I remembered that there is an old road there and I didn't think that this situation would go so far," he said event organizer Ivan Romanko. – We were put on the wrong side, but despite all that, we helped many people. Next time, if I want to hold such an event again, although it is unlikely to happen, I will definitely ask for all possible permissions. We were trying to do a good deed and we couldn't even think that everything would end so badly."

As EcoPolitic reported before , in the Transcarpathian region it was forbidden to enter the forests by car and other self-propelled vehicles, except for transit routes.
