Sometimes cherry blossoms bloom three times a year

In the Transcarpathian city of Mukachevo, a crazy sakura, which got its nickname because it blooms out of season and sometimes even in frosty winters, as well as a magnolia, have blossomed.

The sakura grows on Uspenska Street, according to the Mukachevo City Council on Facebook.

The press service said that the sakura was planted in 2009. Sometimes it blooms three times a year.

"With the onset of spring, the tree is covered with abundant pink flowers and becomes a real decoration of the city," the report emphasized.

It is noted that the first time the out-of-season flowers were noticed in 2014.

The press service said that almost 8,000 sakura trees have been planted in the city. In addition, Mukachevo has the longest sakura alley on Uzhhorodska Street, which is almost 1.4 kilometers long.

The report added that the season of mass flowering of these trees depends on the weather, in recent years it has begun in mid-April. Magnolia has also begun to bloom in the city.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in 2023, 15 sakuras were planted in Kyiv's Obolon district on Heroiv Street by the Azov Regiment to help raise money to purchase 15 sets of equipment necessary for soldiers.

As EcoPolitics previously reported, representatives of foreign organizations planted a symbolic Alley of International Support for Ukraine on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, consisting of 7 sakura trees from 7 organizations from different countries.
