Energoatom illegally carried out the clearing of coastal strips and shore fortification of the reservoir

In the Mykolaiv oblast, the most valuable natural habitats of the Buzkiy Gard National Park are under threat of flooding due to the plans of the Energoatom NPP to raise the level of the Oleksandriv reservoir to 20.7 meters.

The flooding of Gard Island can completely destroy the world's populations of lilac and meringue, which are actually found only in the flooding zone, reports the Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group - UNCG on Facebook.

Energoatom has again started the EIA procedure.

"We are cautiously awaiting the environmental impact assessment report itself and are sure that in all its parts it will be a copy of the previous report, because it is all about raising the level of the same reservoir," environmentalists said.

Raising the water level to 16.9 m (as mentioned in the published message) is only the beginning, as the planned activity consists in completing the completion of the Tashlytsky HPP.

In the notice of planned activity, it is noted that a large amount of work will be carried out, in particular, the almost completely completed construction, namely the building of the HPP for 3-6 hydro units, the water receiver, all tunnel water pipes, supply and discharge channels.

"Despite the fact that the activity did not receive a positive opinion the EIA Energoatom illegally carried out the clearing of coastal strips and shore fortification of the reservoir," the material says.

As part of the Energoatom project, it plans to expand the Buzkiy Gard NPP, but this does not compensate for the loss of those unique plants and historical tracts that are exclusively in the flood zone.

The negative conclusion of the EIA  received by the energy industry in 2021 implies a persistent request from the Ministry of Environment to abandon the stated intentions.

Eco-activists called on the interested public to send comments and suggestions to the Ministry of Environment. To do this, you can fill out the request form link , changing the type from appeal to request and send them to the e-mail address of the EIA of the Ministry (OVD@mepr.gov.ua) by August 3, 2022.

Earlier EcoPolitic reported, thatt in the Uzhansk NPP in Transcarpathia, employees mowed a cell in the tract red book late bloomer. Scientists who participated in the mowing are suspected of incompetence.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, cooperatives in Lviv are trying to challenge the fact of the creation of the natural reserve "Torfovishche Bilogorshcha" in order to give its territory to the courts. under the next buildings.
