In the Lviv region, eco-inspectors confirmed the pollution of the Zymna Voda river, in particular, the water exceeded the maximum permissible concentrations (MPC) for nitrogen, ammonium, chemical and biochemical consumption of oxygen, sometimes 7 times, iron, as well as a lack of soluble oxygen.
On August 8, water samples for laboratory research were taken from several sections of the river on the territory of the Zymnovodovsk Territorial Community, the State Inspectorate of Lviv Region reports on Facebook.
According to the results of laboratory studies, exceeding the MPC of pollutants was found in the following creations.
From the bridge in the village of Zymna Voda, opposite the village council, an excess was detected for:
- 2 times ammonium nitrogen;
- biochemical oxygen consumption (BOC5) by 6 times;
- chemical oxygen consumption (COC) by 2 times;
- total iron in 1.8 times;
- dissolved oxygen was 2.11 mg/dm3 with a norm not lower than 4.0 mg/dm3.
Above the point of inflow of return water from a concrete pipe on the border of Lviv and Zymnovodivska Territorial Community in the village of Kholodnovidka was found to be in excess of:
- ammonium nitrogen by 2.1 times;
- BOC5 in 7 times;
- COC by 2.1 times;
- total iron by 2.2 times;
- dissolved oxygen was 2.6 mg/dm3.
From the bridge on the E40 highway, 300 m below the point of entry of return water flowing from a concrete pipe on the border of Lviv and Zymnovodivska Territorial Community in the village of Kholodnovidka was found to be in excess of:
- ammonium nitrogen by 2.3 times;
- BOC5 in 8.3 times;
- COC by 2.4 times;
- total iron by 2.1 times;
- dissolved oxygen was 2.4 mg/dm3.
Also, from the ingress of return water from the concrete pipe, relative to the background indicators, an increase in the concentration of the following substances is observed:
- the content of suspended matter increases by 1.2 times compared to the natural background;
- an excess of fats and oils by 19 times relative to the background was recorded.
In the return water flowing from the concrete pipe on the border of the Lviv and Zymnovodivka territorial communities in the village of Kholodnovidka, with the return water entering the river Zymna Voda, high concentrations of HSC – 640 mg/dm3, fats and oils – 204 mg/dm3 and low dissolved oxygen level 1.2 mg/dm3, suspended solids – 22 mg/dm3.
Eco-inspectors appealed to the Lviv City Council about the need to take response measures and sent a request to Lvivvodokanal regarding the collector balancer and pollution of the Zymna Voda river.
The national police and the regional prosecutor's office were informed about the fact of exceeding the MPC of pollutants.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the village of Dokuchaevske, which is located near Kharkiv, right next to the local lake liquid flows from the collector.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Sumy, the ecolaboratory recorded 76 times the iron content in the river Sumka.
