Experts of the "Forest" public organization suspected the "Halsillis" forestry farm in Lviv region of falsifying sanitary tree felling.

The organization's experts checked the forest plots of the Yavorivsk DLHP of the Regional communal specialized enterprise "Galsillis" near the settlements of Bortyatyn, Novosilky, and Glynets of the Yavorivsk district of the Lviv region. During the inspection, a sanitary selective felling was discovered near the village of Bortyatyn of the Sudovyshnytskyi territorial community.
"During the inspection of the site, attention was drawn to the fact that, despite the presence of a clearance mark on the stumps of the felled trees and on the root necks of the trees taken to the felling, there were no marks of the categories of technical suitability of the wood. Therefore, a doubt arose regarding the justification of carrying out selective sanitary felling, since the felled and removed in the felling, the trees were healthy by the nature of the crown, trunk, and cut stumps. Trees larger in diameter were felled, at the same time, stunted trees and trees of secondary species were not taken to the felling," emphasized the GO.

It is noted that the company had permission documents for felling, but there were comments regarding the procedure itself. Experts analyzed the felled trees at the time of sanitary felling.
"Drying trees, and especially dry ones, are absent; the needles of standing and felled trees are dark green, not "red", as stated in the forest pathology report; the bark does not exfoliate, but tightly adheres to the tree trunk; mechanically damaged areas are resinous, which does not indicate that the tree is drying out at all! The wind did not damage the plantation, there are no breaks or bends of the trunk more than 30 degrees from the vertical axis. At the same time, there are trees left on the site that should be cut down," experts state.

According to the members of the NGO, these facts are enough to claim that the reasoning behind the removal of this log house was falsified. Therefore, logging should be recognized as illegal.
LIiS NGO sent the relevant materials to the competent authorities. Law enforcement officials should pay attention to such logging in this forest enterprise.

"Is this evidence of insufficient qualification of forestry workers or forest pathologists? On the contrary, our forestry workers are sufficiently highly qualified specialists. But, unfortunately, in order to obtain as much profit as possible, there is often a substitution of elementary forestry concepts. Of course, there may be justified explanations for the removal of healthy trees for sanitary felling. But this does not change the actual situation, which indicates abuse and violation of the legal rules regarding tree felling," the NGO "Forest" concluded.
