In the Kherson region, the Ukrainian military completely liberated the Kamianska Sich National Nature Park, which had been under occupation for 8 months.
During this time, Russian troops ransacked the national park, destroyed the administration building and burned 635 hectares of valuable sites with red-listed plants, reports the "Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group" on Facebook.
Eco-activists emphasized that this national park preserves typchakovo-kovila steppes, as well as numerous historical and archaeological monuments.
They noted that the Russians stole almost all the property of the national park: cars, ATVs, boats, quadcopters, a thermal imager and a weather station. Serhiy Skoryk, director of Kamianska Sich, also joined the liberation of the national park.
The authors said that despite the occupation, the employees of the national park remained at work and put out numerous fires.
"For a long time, due to the presence of the Russian military, it was almost impossible to record the damage caused by them," the report says.
Thanks to the analysis of satellite images, ecoactivists discovered that from February 24 to October 18, fires destroyed red-listed species:
- Scythian drake (633 copies);
- meandering rough (402 copies);
- hairy hairy (832 specimens);
- Lessing's quail (2384 copies);
- Ukrainian kovyla (456 copies) and others.
"Calculation of losses is still underway," the authors noted.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Russian troops began the construction of a "line of defense" on the left bank of the Kherson region, where a number of nature reserves, natural monuments, and unique ecosystems are located, including psamophyte (sand) steppes. It can destroy the nature of the region.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, fighters of the 92nd Brigade are in the Kharkiv region 3 reserves were liberated from the occupiers, namely the Dvorichanskyi National Nature Park (NPP), the Velikoburlutsky Steppe and Izyumska luka regional landscape parks (RLP).
