Eco-activists urged not to cook too many dishes

Ukrainians were urged to welcome the New Year in a nature-friendly atmosphere. After all, impulsive purchases, New Year's decor and garlands have a significant impact on animals, plants and the environment.

On the Facebook page, Vinnytsia eco-activists from "Eco-Service" posted some tips on how to celebrate the holidays in an ecological way.

Presents

The authors advise choosing gifts in advance and asking the person what they want to receive. After all, "junk" is often bought in the festive rush, which very soon ends up in the trash.

Wrapper

Although the gift packaging is beautiful, it is not environmentally friendly. So a pile of paper and bright bows will eventually end up in the trash.

"It's better to hide the gift in an unexpected place or invent a small quest to find it," ecoactivists suggested.

Tree

Every treewant to back to life, but this is already impossible.

Ukrainians were advised to make a Christmas tree with improvised materials — to construct from books, to create from New Year's toys, to form from a mountain of unnecessary clothes, and after the holidays to give them to the needy.

Decor

"The planet will thank you if you turn on your imagination and come up with ecological options for jewelry. You can use cinnamon sticks, orange rings, mandarin oranges, ginger, herbs, etc. as decoration," the authors noted.

Light

Eco-activists advised to turn off the light where it is not needed at the moment, and use candles in some places. This will add even greater comfort. It is also worth choosing LED garlands, because they consume 70% less electricity compared to incandescent lamps.

The holiday table

The authors urged not to prepare too many dishes, but to rely solely on the number of guests.

Salutes

"We recommend that you simply forget about this part of the holiday, because it not only harms the environment, but is also prohibited nowadays," they stressed.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, specialists of the all-Ukrainian youth eco-movement Let's do it Ukraine have prepared 3 ideas for ecological and budget gifts, and also urged to abandon unnecessary packaging in favor of eco-alternatives that can be reused.
