The company plans to use organic waste from poultry farming to generate gas

The Pan Kurchak agricultural group has announced plans to establish large-scale biomethane production. The new plant will be capable of producing over 7 million cubic meters of biological gas per year.

This was reported by AgroTimes media.

The company is considering the possibility of creating a secondary energy production facility, as it has sufficient organic raw materials that can be used to generate biogas.

"Given the availability of our own raw materials, in particular chicken manure and other organic matter, the company has decided to build a biomethane plant," said Serhiy Horlach, chairman of the supervisory board of the Pan Kurchak agricultural group.

The company also plans to invest in upgrading its production facilities and expanding into new export markets.

Agricultural producers are leaders in the biomethane sector

Agricultural feedstock remains the primary source for biomethane production in Ukraine, making agricultural producers the ones increasing biomethane capacity.

In 2025, this yielded the first international results as Ukrainian companies began exporting biomethane abroad. In just that year, they delivered 11.2 million cubic meters of gaseous methane to consumers.

Three Ukrainian companies were involved in exports – MHP Holding, which accounted for 77% of all Ukrainian biomethane exports in 2025, the VITAGRO group of companies, and the agricultural holding "Hals Agro".

At the same time, the industry of biomethane production from landfills is also developing in Ukraine. Currently, about 30 biogas extraction units are operating at landfill sites nationwide.

Earlier, EcoPolitic reported that European countries had increased annual biomethane production to 22 billion cubic meters.
