MPs will work with two documents again

On Monday, April 28, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management will hold a meeting via video conference at 12:00.

EcoPolitic has prepared the committee's agenda for its readers.

The MPs will consider two draft laws for which the Committee has been designated as the lead committee:

  • Draft law No. 10217 “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Regulation of the Functioning of Territories Affected by Radioactive Contamination as a Result of the Chornobyl Disaster” – this document was submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine;
  • Draft Law No. 12356 “On the National Target Environmental Program for Radioactive Waste Management” for the second reading.

Also on the MPs' agenda is consideration of a letter from the Accounting Chamber regarding the Joint Report on the Results of the Parallel Audit of Forest Fire Protection.

As a reminder, the environmental committee received the government's draft law No. 10217 for review in early November 2023. MPs first considered it at their meeting on January 12, 2024, and then on January 26. Now, after a pause of more than a year, the relevant committee will consider it again.

Parliament's work on draft law No. 10217 is scheduled for the 2nd quarter of this year.

As for the draft law No. 12356, the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt it as a basis on February 18. On February 27, the Parliament voted for this document in the first reading.
