In the Chornobyl exclusion zone, 32 mobile raid teams have been set up to detect violations of environmental legislation, including hunting, felling, plowing land for agricultural purposes, fishing, and more.
All cases of violations will be reported to law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reports on Facebook.
"The working group will conduct a comprehensive check of data on possible illegal actions on the territory of the Chernobyl radiation and ecological biosphere reserve," the press service said.
It is noted that for this purpose an Interdepartmental Working Group was created at the State Agency for Management of the Exclusion Zone. It included:
- members of the parliamentary environmental committee;
- representatives of the Ministry of Environment, DAZV, the State Forest Resources Agency and the State Environmental Inspection;
- representatives of public organizations.
The message added that the first meeting of the working group and the first raid have already taken place, the results of which will be announced later. Almost 100 employees of the State Forestry Agency, the State Economic Inspection and DAZV were involved in the raiding groups.
The members of the working group also agreed on a preliminary action plan for the implementation of control measures on the territory of the reserve.
It is noted that at the end of 2023, on the territory of the Chornobyl Reserve, cutting of trees for 52 million hryvnias was discovered. Currently, a criminal case has been opened for this offense.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Zhytomyr region, in the Narodytskyi community, the village council illegally provided for lease 1437 hectares of land in the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl NPP, i.e. radioactive contamination, for the cultivation of grain crops.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Zhytomyr Oblast, border guards exposed a truck driver who tried to take 3 tons of tree bark from the Chornobyl zone of unconditional resettlement. The bark was planned to be sold in Kyiv as a decorative element for landscape design.
