Andrii Gerus, the head of the parliamentary committee on energy and housing and communal services, said that Ukraine should produce as much green energy as possible.
He told about this in an interview with Apostrophe, adding that thanks to guarantees of the origin of energy, the country will be able to export it and a number of goods to the European Union without hindrance.
Gerus emphasized that the EU plans to introduce economic incentives for enterprises that use green energy in production. Therefore, in addition to the development of renewable generation, Ukraine should ensure that domestic enterprises can confirm the environmental friendliness of their energy.
He noted that the recently adopted draft law No. 9011-d "On restoration and green transformation of the energy system" will help achieve this goal. Thus, the document provides for the introduction of guarantees of the origin of electric energy, i.e. confirmation that it is produced precisely from renewable sources. This will allow the unimpeded export of electricity or finished products to the EU, confirming that they were produced using green energy.
"Recently, technologies have been significantly improved, and electricity produced from renewable sources has become cheaper. Therefore, green tariffs are gradually being abandoned in Europe and Ukraine. For new large solar power plants, contracts for supply under the green tariff are actually no longer issued. And in the next year, probably new contracts will not be concluded at all. Green energy is ready to work in market conditions," Gerus added.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on June 30 the Verkhovna Rada adopted as a whole draft law No. 9011-d "On amendments to some laws of Ukraine regarding restoration and green transformation of the energy system". The document provides for the introduction of the guarantee of origin of renewable energy and the Net Billing model.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, Ukraine has adopted a state standard regarding injection of biomethane into gas networks. On the basis of this document, technical conditions for connecting biomethane plants to gas distribution networks will be issued.
