Specialists record negative consequences and determine the amount of damages

The Kryvyi Rih Eastern District Prosecutor's Office has started a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the facts of ecocide and violation of the laws and customs of war.

Due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP near the village of Maryanske, Kryvorizka district, a mass plague of fish occurred, which could lead to an ecological disaster, the Headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP reports in Telegram.

According to the investigation, the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam led to a critical drop in the water level in the Kakhovskaya Reservoir.

"Preliminary investigative actions are currently underway with the aim of recording negative consequences and establishing the amount of damage caused to the environment," the message says.

It is noted that prosecutors work with law enforcement officers and representatives of state control bodies of the region at the scene of the incident.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on the night of June 6, the Russian occupiers blew up the dam at the Kakhovskaya HPP. According to OSINT researchers, the ecological and economic consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP can be equated to the consequences of the use of tactical nuclear weapons of 5-10 kilotons.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the prosecutor's office of the Kherson region started a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the facts of ecocide and violation of the laws and customs of war due to the detonation of the dam at the Kakhovskaya HPP.
