The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office has started a pre-trial investigation into criminal proceedings on the facts of ecocide and violation of the laws and customs of war due to the detonation of the dam at the Kakhovskaya HPP.

The explosion took place around three o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, June 6, the Prosecutor General's Office reported on Telegram.

A video appeared online showing that the Kakhovskaya HPP was flooded and the station plunged into the Kakhovskaya Sea.

It is worth noting that in social networks, the undermining of the dam was called the biggest man-made disaster in the world in recent decades, and the consequences of the terrorist attack could become a "historic disaster".

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on the night of June 6, the Russian occupiers blew up the dam at the Kakhovskaya HPP. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Ukrainian animal rights activists publicly appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with a demand to create conditions for the evacuation of not only people, but also animals from the flooded area of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
