Employees of the Uzhan National Nature Park found out that the mother of the recently rescued bear cub in Transcarpathia was killed during illegal hunting.
Officials from the State Border Service probably organized the hunt, reports the Uzhanskyi NPP on Facebook.
It is noted that the bear was killed behind the line of engineering and technical structures on the lands of the nature reserve fund.
Head of the Department of State Protection of the PZF of the Uzhan National Park Vladyslav Kamentsa said that a statement to the police is currently being prepared based on the discovered fact of illegal hunting.
Kamenza added that April 14 Western Regional Office of the State Security Service reported that a bear with two cubs settled near the place of long-term service of the border guard of the "Stuzhitsa" department of the Chopsky detachment.
"According to our information, the hunt was organized somewhere on April 12, that bear had two cubs, one, apparently, also died. The other later came to the village. From the Black Mlaky tract, where the hunt was organized, to the village is 2-3 km , it was able to reach," he said.
The poaching of the border guards caused the indignation of netizens. People demand punishment for those involved.

Border guards responded to the scandal
The Western Regional Office of the State Border Service of Ukraine explained that the accusations do not correspond to reality. After all, the photo was taken by the border squad of the Kamyanytsia unit when they came across the corpse of a male bear in early April. The head of the unit informed the employees of Kamianitsky forestry, who buried the remains of the animal.
It is noted that these circumstances are confirmed by the relevant act, which indicates the gender of the bear and the absence of signs of gunshot wounds.
The border guards emphasized that the distance from the place where the bear's body was found is about 60 kilometers from the area where the soldiers of the Stuzhitsa department previously found the bear. To find out all the circumstances, the management of the Chop border detachment is conducting an official investigation.
