The company managed to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30% from 2019

Iron ore pellet exporter Ferrexpo has raised its climate targets to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions per tonne of iron ore produced by 50% by 2030.

This is stated in the company's first report on climate change, on which Ferrexpo worked with environmental consultants Ricardo plc, Ferrexpo PLC reported on LinkedIn.

The message emphasized that the work with Ricardo was aimed at determining the company's carbon footprint and ways to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The authors noted that the company has so far managed to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30% since 2019.

"We are committed to decarbonizing our business and producing high-quality products that help our steelmaking customers reduce their emissions," the statement said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that iron ore production company pellets Ferrexpo Ukraine in 2020 thanks to its environmental initiatives reduced CO2 emissions by 8%.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the Netherlands, the Tata Steel in the city of Eimeiden took 3rd place in the TOP-5 of the World Steel Association in terms of the intensity of carbon emissions in 2022. The plant has CO2 emissions are approximately 7% lower than the European average and is almost 19% below the world average and has been included in this rating for the third year in a row.
