Recruitment for the Go Move 2022 competition has started in North America, which is designed to develop partnerships between startups and corporations to accelerate the decarbonization of the transportation sector.
The program, among other things, will provide participants with a grant of $25,000, it is reported by AUTO Connected Car News.
The transport sector creates about 16% of global greenhouse gas emissions. To reduce this figure, the industry needs technological breakthroughs and stakeholders to help them scale.
The competition was launched by BASF, Magna and Greentown, an accelerator of climate partnerships, as the first Go Move program under Greentown Go to decarbonize the global economy.
The program will seek startups that reduce the impact of the automotive industry by:
- innovative materials to increase the efficiency of cars and reduce emissions during the life cycle;
- design of materials for processing and new processing technologies;
- innovative materials for joint and future mobility.
BASF is a leading partner in Go Move 2022 and a world leader in chemicals and a supplier of chemicals to the automotive industry. This program aligns with BASF's efforts to create a zero-emission transport industry by reducing emissions throughout the life cycle, implementing new recycling technologies and creating new materials for shared and sustainable mobility.
“Sustainable innovation requires collaboration and creativity especially when it comes to transforming the transportation industry,” said Gulai Serhatkulu, BASF's senior vice president of materials manufacturing in North America.
Magna, a supporting partner of Go Move 2022, is one of the world's largest automotive suppliers.
By joining forces with BASF and Greentown Labs and widening the ecosystem in this space, it will bring new innovations and solutions that neither party would be able to achieve alone,”said Todd Deaville, senior director of technology assessment and innovation at Magna.
The program will last for 6 months and will give participants the opportunity to interact with BASF and Magna, including joint pilot projects, joint developments, purchase orders, investment opportunities and more.
Throughout the program, startups will benefit from mentoring, networking opportunities, educational workshops and partnership-oriented programs to support their collaboration. Plus a workspace and membership at Greentown Labs and a $25,000 grant.
Greentown Labs is the largest climate startup incubator in North America. It runs Greentown Go programs in five areas:
- Go Move (transportation);
- Go Make (production);
- Go Energize (energy and electricity);
- Go Build (buildings);
- Go Grow (Food and Agriculture).

Applications for participation in Go Move 2022 will be accepted until September 30, 2022.
