Prohibition of firecrackers and fireworks: a bill was introduced in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

Holiday "explosions" harm not only people but also the environment and animals

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a bill proposing to limit the sale, transfer and use of pyrotechnic articles, such as fireworks and firecrackers.

The relevant bill № 7438 appeared on the website of the parliament on Monday, June 6. It was registered by deputies of the Humane Country MFI together with the Verkhovna Rada Ecocommittee.

"The objective need now is to ban the launch of fireworks, fireworks and the use of firecrackers in settlements. This has long been said. The damage they cause to the environment, animals and people who survived the shelling of cities, not to mention the risk to health "But those who use pyrotechnics without strict observance of safety rules. However, today it is a matter of peace for all Ukrainians who hear explosions of shells, missiles and the sounds of flying military aircraft," said Yulia Ovchinnikova, a People's Deputy from the Servant of the People faction.

According to the politician, the bill № 7438 at the legislative level in some way restricts or prohibits both the sale and use of pyrotechnic articles to protect human and animal health.

According to the bill, they want to ban the use of any fireworks, including fireworks and firecrackers, and the holding of any activities using pyrotechnics and explosives. An exception is proposed for:

  • stage pyrotechnics T1 and T2, fireworks of class F1, which have a low level of danger and noise level does not exceed 60 decibels;
  • use of pyrotechnics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Police, rescuers in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.

The document also prohibits the sale or any circulation of all fireworks, including those with a noise level of up to 60 decibels.

In addition, there is an age limit for their purchase (16 years).

At the same time, they want to allow the sale and / or transfer by any means of stage pyrotechnic articles of class T1 (have a low level of danger) only to persons who have reached eighteen years of age, and stage pyrotechnic articles of class T2 - persons with special training.

The bill was submitted to the relevant committee for consideration. Afterwards, the document will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.

It should be noted that the day before, President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a request to the Cabinet of Ministers to consider banning firecrackers, fireworks and other pyrotechnic products during martial law. However, MPs believe that the ban will be relevant after the war.

Earlier, EcoPolitics reported that three petitions were registered on the website of the President of Ukraine, proposing to ban the import, sale and use of pyrotechnic products in Ukraine, which cause trouble to both humans and animals.
