Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has suffered large-scale losses due to environmental crimes

Violators paid a fine of 27.3 million hryvnias to the state budget

In just five months of 2022, specialists of the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine estimated the damage to the environment in the amount of more than 727.2 million hryvnias due to violations of environmental legislation.

This was announced on Friday, June 10, the press service State Coinspection.

In total, DEI staff has carried out 5,076 environmental control measures since the beginning of the year. As a result, 6,752 protocols on administrative offenses were drawn up. At the same time, state inspectors sent 259 materials to law enforcement agencies on the grounds of a crime against the environment. As a result, 124 criminal proceedings were opened.

In addition, from January to May 2022, environmental inspectors filed claims and lawsuits for damage to the environment, amounting to almost 504 million hryvnias.

Violators have already paid damages to the state budget voluntarily and compulsorily in the total amount of over UAH 27.3 million.

We will remind that during 2021 Ukrainian forests and flora caused losses of almost UAH 500 million.
