The collected liquid is poured into special treatment facilities

In the Kherson region, volunteers began to implement a unique project for cleaning the region and have already pumped out more than 9,000 tons of environmentally hazardous liquid.

They help rescuers and utility workers overcome the consequences of flooding due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, the Kherson Regional State Administration reports on Facebook.

"Tens of thousands of tons of garbage, silt and ecologically dangerous liquid have become the new environment of the residents of Kherson," the message says.

It is noted that crews are pumping water from houses and other objects. They also clean, dry and disinfect buildings. Such works were carried out on more than 700 objects.

The report said that volunteers pumped out 816 tons of environmentally contaminated liquid from Shipbuilders' Square in the Korabel microdistrict.

The press service explained that the collected liquid is poured into special treatment facilities of Khersonvodokanal.

It is noted that activists from the "City of Power" public organizations joined the initiative. "Oleshsha" and the international organization Lifting Hands International.

The amount does not take into account the damage to agriculture, infrastructure, housing and the costs of restoring the station itself,
