A number of enterprises are already functioning in the community

In the Volyn region, residents of the Novovolyn community opposed the construction of a waste processing plant due to environmental threats.

The corresponding petition was registered in the Unified system of local petitions.

The petition has already been signed by 163 people out of the required 200. The collection will last until June 26.

The author of the appeal, Vasyl Panasyuk, noted that a number of enterprises are already operating in the community, in particular:

  • Kronospan plant;
  • oil and fat plant;
  • Pan Kurchak meat processing plant.

"The construction of a waste processing plant will increase the risk of an environmental crisis in a city that is already polluted by other enterprises," he wrote.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Lutsk, the city authorities have started preparations for construction of a waste processing plant. Currently, the concept of the future enterprise is being worked out, as well as the technical and economic justification and various options of the project proposal are being prepared. Probably, the plant is planned to be built in the area of the landfill in the village of Bryshche.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Mayor of Lutsk Ihor Polishchuk said that the residents of the community will block the work of the Hnidava sugar factory because of the unbearable unpleasant smell from the activity. Residents of Lutsk and Boratynsk communities complained about the stench, the probable source of which is the activities of the partner company "Bio PEK" on the territory of the plant.
