The Decarbonization Fund will help make production more energy independent and efficient

The biomethane plant VITAGRO ENERGY of the VITAGRO group of companies has signed an agreement with the Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine for a preferential loan of UAH 16 million for a period of 5 years to install a cogeneration module (CHP) at the enterprise.

This was reported by the press service of VITAGRO ENERGY on Facebook.

According to company representatives, cogeneration allows simultaneous production of electricity and heat from biogas for the company's own needs. In particular, it increases energy independence and production efficiency.

Specialists added that in-house generation will reduce both electricity consumption from the grid and the company's expenditures on energy resources. This will make it possible to reduce emissions by about 974 t of CO₂ annually. Plant calculations show that thanks to the cogeneration module, it will be possible to substitute around 2,300 MWh of grid electricity per year.

VITAGRO noted that the thermal energy from cogeneration will be used to maintain a temperature of 38–42 °C in the fermenters, which is a critical parameter for a stable process and higher biomethane quality for customers in the EU.
