One of the areas of work of the office will be the development of alternative heat supply, highly efficient cogeneration and biogas production

The Office of Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency has been opened in Vinnytsia, the third in Ukraine.

The relevant memorandum was signed by the head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, Hanna Zamazeyeva, and the head of the Vinnytsia City Council, Serhiy Morgunov, according to the agency's Facebook page.

It is noted that the office will develop and support Green Deal projects in all sectors of the economy, including

  • energy efficiency and carbon-free economy;
  • conducive to attracting green investments;
  • popularization of the Green Deal.

"Communities always know exactly how to live better, where to start. For this, they only need funding, strategic direction and professional help. It will be easier for Vinnytsia, because the community already has its own path, sufficiently developed institutions and understands how to improve, in particular, in the generation of alternative types of fuel," Zamazeyeva said.

Vinnytsia became the first community in Ukraine to announce a green course. It happened in January 2024.

It is noted that the key areas of work of the office will be:

  • energy consumption management – implementation of energy management systems, energy certification of buildings, energy audits;
  • creation of an "energy security cushion" of the region – alternative heat supply, highly efficient cogeneration, production of biogas and biomethane;
  • attracting financial resources for the energy-efficient transformation of regions through the future National Decarbonization Platform, ESCO, municipal green finance, international financial assistance, etc.;
  • education and popularization in the direction of energy efficiency.

The message added that the Decarbonization Office is located on the first floor of the Vinnytsia City Council building.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in November, Dnipropetrovsk Region and Kirovohrad Region opened the first regional offices of decarbonization and energy efficiency in Ukraine.

Previously, EcoPolitic analyzed the potential successes and threats of the State fund for decarbonization and energy-efficient transformation, which was launched on January 1. Although the idea of creating such a Fund is considered breakthrough in the eco-community, the lack of clear mechanisms at the time of its launch causes justified concern.
