In Ukraine, the government started the transfer of reclamation systems from the Ministry of Environment to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
This will make it possible to divide the management functions of water management infrastructure and water resources between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture reports on Facebook.
"This will allow the Ministry of Agricultural Policy to finally start reforms in the field of land reclamation and modernization of the country's land reclamation network, to increase its energy efficiency and potential," the article noted.
Currently, the state of the hydrotechnical infrastructure in Ukraine does not allow irrigation to develop. Not only the food security of the country depends on this direction, but also the economical use of natural resources.
From now on, the State Fisheries Agency will be able to work in the direction of:
- restoration and increase of irrigated land areas;
- attraction of investments in the reconstruction and construction of reclamation systems;
- encouraging water users to create organizations of water users and state operators of reclamation systems;
- building an effective tariff policy for irrigation and drainage services;
- creation of state support programs for land reclamation development.
By the end of 2022, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy together with the Ministry of Environment plan to fully complete the implementation of the decision approved by the Government in 2021 "Some issues of distribution of individual powers of central executive bodies in the field of land reclamation" by transferring all existing state reclamation infrastructure to the State Fisheries Agency.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that at the Dniester HPP in July 2022 production decreased by 43% due to low water content of electricity.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the order of the head of the Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets, on approval of work rules of Dniester reservoirs.
